The College Mission Statement is the basis by which every new or renovated structure is designed, guiding both form and function of future facilities and the care by which we maintain existing properties.  Central Hall, the architectural jewel of Hillsdale College, gives physical representation to the College’s principles, symbolizing the “sound learning” and “blessings of civil and religious liberty” to which Hillsdale’s founders were dedicated.  Using the Second Empire style of Central Hall as a guide, an ambitious Master Plan is uniting new and existing buildings with an architectural design that reflects Hillsdale's purpose and heritage, while providing quality facilities equipped with the supporting technology for sound instruction.

As part of this aggressive Master Plan, the College has completed construction of John and Dede Howard Music Hall, two new classroom and faculty office buildings, Lane Hall and Kendall Hall and a new dormitory, The Suites.  In January 2008, the College also completed the Grewcock Student Union, the Benge Colonnade connecting Mossey Library to the Student Union and the renovation of Strosacker Science Center and the addition of the Joseph H. Moss Family Laboratory Wing.  Future plans include the construction of a chapel/performing arts center, an intramural sports building and an archive wing for the library, as well as re-facing the north end of Central Hall.  In addition, the Master Plan calls for renovations to several existing facilities, including dormitories, the Knorr Center, the Dow Leadership Center and the Roche Sports Complex.
