The art department is housed in the Fine Arts Building. In addition to several classrooms, faculty offices, and studios, the department has a 12,000-square-foot gallery and a fully equipped graphics lab.
Daughtrey Gallery
For over two decades, the Daughtrey Gallery has hosted both professional and Hillsdale College student art exhibits. While it is a major teaching facility for the Art Department, it also delights thousands of campus and community guests who visit each year.
With over 1,200 square feet of exhibit space and state-of-the-art track lighting, it has housed exhibits of both national and regional importance. Works by famous photographers such as Ansel Adams, Eugene Atget and Berenice Abbott have graced its walls. Sculptures by Frederick Hart, EvAngelos Frudakis, and Marc Mellon have been presented along with paintings by Richard Whitney, Anthony Ryder, and R. H. Ives Gammell.
Hillsdaleās art faculty exhibit their works frequently in the gallery. A juried student art exhibit is held each semester, and all graduating senior art majors display the best of their work each spring.
Graphics Lab
The Graphics Lab is located on the top floor of the Fine Arts Building. This lab contains Macintosh workstations that are suited to run multimedia, graphics, video, and web content applications.
