Sage Center for the Arts
Completed in 1992, the Sage Center for the Arts houses the Art, Theatre and Speech Departments. The heart of the building is Markel Auditorium, a 353-seat amphitheater complete with a 40-foot thrust stage and an orchestra pit that can be raised or lowered. In addition to classrooms and faculty offices, Sage Center for the Arts features three large art studios, a photography and graphic design computer lab, a performance/dance studio, a theatre design studio, a scene shop, prop storage facilities, a costume shop, makeup and dressing rooms, lighting catwalks and a fully computerized control center for sound, lighting, radio production and audio and video recording. Daughtrey Gallery, which has hosted numerous professional exhibits as well as works by Hillsdale faculty and students, is contained in the building as well.
