Road Map of Ankara / Bogazkale Region

A morning visit to the Anatolia Civilization Museum (aka the Hittite Museum) and the citadel atop the city of Ankara will prepare us for the afternoon's look at the Hittite capital at Hattusa.

Following the museum visit, we'll drive from Ankara to Hattusa, capital of the Hittite kingdom from 1750 BC to 1180 BC.  The empire of the Hittites stretched from the Black Sea to Syria.  The visit includes the Hittite capital itself and the gates and walls, along with Bogazköy, and Yazilikaya, where Hittite gods march across the cliff face.
