The Eugene C. Pulliam Journalism Program provides fellowships for accomplished journalists to teach a course on journalism and consult with the staff of the student newspaper while in residence on the Hillsdale campus.  Pulliam Fellowships are awarded based on journalistic excellence and in keeping with the principles of the College mission.

Fall 2008                   William McGurn
                                Columnist, Wall Street Journal

William McGurn is Vice President at News Corporation, and his column "Main Street" appears weekly in the Wall Street Journal. Previously he served as Chief Speechwriter for President George W. Bush. He was also chief editorial writer for the Wall Street Journal and spent more than a decade overseas, in both Brussels and Hong Kong, as a journalist. In the mid-1990s, he was Washington Bureau Chief for National Review. He is author of two books,  Perfidious Albion on Hong Kong and Terrorist or Freedom Fighter on terrorism. He holds a B.A. in philosophy from Notre Dame and an M.S. in communications from Boston University.

Mark Steyn’s column appears in the New York Sun, the Washington Times, Philadelphia’s Evening Bulletin, and the Orange County Register. In addition, he writes for The New Criterion, MacLean’s in Canada, the Jerusalem Post, The Australian, and Hawke’s Bay Today in New Zealand. The author of National Review’s Happy Warrior column, he also blogs on National Review Online and appears weekly on the Hugh Hewitt Radio Show. He is the author of several books, most recently America Alone: The End of The World as We Know It, a New York Times bestseller and a number one bestseller in Canada. A Canadian citizen, Mr. Steyn lives with his family in New Hampshire.
