Suggested Program (A detailed schedule is available from the chairman of Chemistry.)

  • Freshman Year: Freshman Rhetoric and the Great Books, six hours; mathematics (Finite Mathematics, Precalculus Mathematics or Differential and Integral Calculus), eight hours; General Chemistry, eight hours; biology (Biological Science), four hours; The Western Heritage to 1600 and The American Heritage, six hours; or Molecular Genetics and Cellular Function, four hours; physical education, two hours.


  • Sophomore Year: Organic Chemistry, eight hours; mathematics (Differential and Integral Calculus if not taken in the freshman year), eight hours; University Physics, ten hours; social science and/or humanities electives, six hours; CCA, one hour.


  • Junior and Senior Years: Chemistry: Analytical Chemistry, four hours; Instrumental Analysis, four hours; Physical Chemistry, eight hours; Laboratory Assistantship, one hour; Biochemistry, three hours; Advanced Inorganic Chemistry, three hours; one course from among Chemistry 403, 419 and 504; Junior Seminar (475); Senior Seminar and Thesis (575); Chemical Research (597); Molecular Genetics and Cellular Function (Biology 300); other electives to complete graduation requirements.
