Suggested Program

  • Freshman Year: Freshman Rhetoric and the Great Books, six hours; mathematics* (Finite Mathematics and Precalculus Mathematics), eight hours; College Physics,* ten hours; biology (Biological Science), four hours; humanities elective, three hours; physical education, two hours.
    *Calculus and University Physics recommended if high school background permits.


  • Sophomore Year: University Physics, ten hours; General Chemistry, eight hours; biology (Molecular Genetics and Cellular Function), four hours; calculus, eight hours; history (The Western Heritage to 1600 and The American Heritage), six hours.


  • Junior Year: University Physics,* five hours; Organic Chemistry, eight hours; biology (Vertebrate Biology and Mammalian Physiology), eight hours.
    * Students who complete the first two semesters of University Physics as freshmen take the final semester during the sophomore year.


  • Junior and Senior Years: physics (Atomic and Nuclear, Electronics, Mechanics, Thermal Physics, Light, Experimental Physics, Electricity and Magnetism, Quantum Mechanics and Senior Thesis), 27 hours; chemistry (organic), eight hours; humanities electives, six hours; social science electives, six hours.
