The students majoring in Religion & Philosophy must take a minimum of 27 semester hours (not including Rel 105 or Phl 105), including the following:

PHL 211 Ancient Philosophy

and at least one of

PHL 212 Medieval Philosophy
PHL 213 Modern Philosophy
PHL 217 Nineteenth-Century Philosophy

and two of

REL 211 Old Testament History and Literature
REL 212 New Testament History and Literature
REL 213 History of Christian Thought I
REL 214 History of Christian Thought II

A minimum of 12 semester hours in both philosophy and religion are required.

Majors must also pass a written comprehensive exam.

Students who take Philosophy or Religion 575, complete an “A-level” thesis and comprehensive exam, and have at least a 3.400 grade-point average in their philosophy and religion major will graduate with honors in philosophy and religion. Students planning to attend graduate school are urged to try for honors:
