The religion major requires 27 semester hours (not including REL 105 or PHL 105):

REL 101 Introduction to World Religions
REL 211 Old Testament History and Literature
REL 212 New Testament History and Literature
REL 213 History of Christian Thought I
REL 214 History of Christian Thought II

and 12 hours of electives.

Majors must also pass a comprehensive written examination.

Students who take Religion 575, complete an “A-level” thesis and comprehensive 118 exam, and have at least a 3.400 grade-point average in their religion major will graduate with honors in religion. Students planning to attend graduate school are urged to try for honors:
