The requirements for a major are a minimum 33 hours of psychology, including the following:

PSY 313 Cognitive Psychology
PSY 314 Biological Psychology
PSY 315 Social Psychology
PSY 411 Psychology Research Project I
PSY 412 Psychology Research Project II
PSY 499 History and Systems of Psychology
A comprehensive examination is also required.
Introduction to Psychology (PSY 101) is a prerequisite for all other psychology courses. Except for psychology majors, students who score a 4 or 5 on the Advanced Placement test in Psychology have fulfilled the requirement for Introduction to Psychology. All psychology majors must take Introduction to Psychology and should do so in the freshman year. This should be followed by Statistics for Social Sciences (PSY 209) in the fall of the sophomore year. Finite Mathematics (MTH 105) is the only prerequisite for psychology majors to take PSY 209. Research Design (PSY 210) should be taken in the spring of the sophomore year. The two-semester research project (PSY 411-412) should be initiated in the junior year. PSY 499, History and Systems of Psychology, should be taken in the senior year.
