For the 24-credit-hour minor in Speech Rhetoric, every student must take the following core courses:

SPC 201 Fundamentals of Speech Communication
SPC 290 The Western Tradition of Rhetoric I
SPC 401 Theories of Persuasion
SPC 455 History of American Public Address

Every student must choose two of the following courses:

SPC 301 Movies as Medium
SPC 450 Political Rhetoric and the Electronic Media
SPC 453 Theories of Rhetoric
SPC 463 Methods of Rhetorical Analysis
THE 302 The Theatre in History IV: Dramatic Literature, History, Theory and Criticism; Contemporary Drama (1918-Present)

One of the following:

SPC 275 The Performing Voice
SPC 320 Advanced Public Speaking
SPC 310 Argumentation: Theory and Practice
THE 235 Acting I: Basic Performance Techniques

And one of the following:

SPC 285 Interpersonal Communication
SPC 303 Business Communication
SPC 325 Speech Composition

Please Note: Speech courses not counted toward the Speech-Rhetoric minor: SPC 151(2)-451(2), 161(2)-461(2), 240, 356, 340, 370, 393, 440, 575, 597 and 599. Under special circumstances, SPC 393, 597 and 599 may be counted toward the minor.
