The Hillsdale College Intensive Language Summer School in Würzburg is open to interested students who have completely GRM201 with a grade of "B" or better. The program allows students to enroll in intermediate- to advanced-level German courses through normal summer-school procedures. Students who are immersed in German life gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of German language and culture.
Location/Accommodations:
The program is located in Würzburg, Bavaria on the campus of the Universität Würzburg. The city of Würzburg, a jewel of southern German Baroque architecture, is home to the Julius-Maximilian-Universität. Founded in 1582, it provides a stimulating academic atmosphere for 15,000 students. The city is situated in the midst of the famous vinyards of the Main river, one hour east of Frankfurt.
Participating students live in Universität Würzburg dormitories in single rooms. All classes are taught at KHG (Catholic University Association) in the center of town. Round-trip transportation to a US airport and from Frankfurt to Würzburg is available, as well as public transportation in the City of Würzburg.
Structure:
The four-week intensive language course is conducted in July and is taught by Hillsdale College faculty. Classes meet four hours per day, and numerous excursions and cultural activities are provided. There are twenty hours of language instruction per week, in addition to many hours of conversational German outside of the classroom.
Credits:
Students receive four college credits for Intermediate and Advanced German. Hillsdale College students receive any combination of GRM 303-400 or, with permission, GRM 350/597. Courses are transferable to other colleges.
