Distinguished Visiting Fellows
Each year, Hillsdale students have an opportunity to enroll in short seminars—usually two weeks to a month in length—taught by Hillsdale College Distinguished Visiting Fellows. These seminars provide an opportunity for students to learn firsthand from nationally renowned scholars, writers and statesmen. Additionally, each visiting fellow delivers a public lecture during his residency on campus
Sir Martin Gilbert, the official biographer of Winston Churchill and one of the world’s leading modern historians, teaches a two-week seminar on Churchill each fall semester.
Classicist and military historian Victor Davis Hanson—author of such books as The Soul of Battle, Carnage and Culture, and A War Like No Other—teaches two month-long seminars each fall semester.
Other Hillsdale College Distinguished Visiting Fellows have included U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough, and columnist Mark Steyn.
