Network Storage

Hillsdale College provides server space via the P, S, T and R network drives available on all campus computers.  These drives are also available from the Current Students and Faculty & Staff resource pages, as well as configurable as a web folder. Data stored on the P, S, T and R Drives is automatically backed up and is significantly more secure than data stored on optical disks and flash drives. Permissions can be set to folders located on these drives so that multiple users can access the same file each from their own computer. This makes sharing data both convenient and secure. Passwords to personal computers should NEVER be shared. You should already have access to all these drives. Faculty and staff members can request additional folders on the S, T, and R Drives.

The P Drive:

(Personal Directories or Users Drive)

An area on the Network designed for storing individual files not to be shared with anyone other than the user. This area is mapped to the 'My Documents' folder on campus PCs.  Student personal directories are to be kept below 1GB, faculty and staff personal directories should be kept below 5GB.  Additional storage space may be requested though the Helpdesk.

The S Drive:

(Department Sharing Drive)

An area on the Network designed for sharing files between persons in the same department.  May be accessed from 'My Computer' on campus PCs.

The T Drive:

(Business Teams)

An area on the Network designed for sharing information between persons in different departments. Note that students may access the TA sub-folder within the T Drive.  This is a space where departments may share files with students.  May be accessed from 'My Computer' on campus PCs.  Storage space on the T drive may be requested though the Helpdesk

The R Drive:

(Public Read-Only)

Area on the Network designed for the retrieval of information to faculty and staff campus wide. Nothing on this drive can be altered by anyone other than the creator (hence its name- read only).  May be accessed from 'My Computer' on campus PCs.
