Your Hillsdale College email account and personal directory will remain active for about 2 months after graduation or date of transfer. You will receive a warning before the account will be removed, stating the date of removal. This will give you time to create an account with an email service such as GMail, Yahoo Mail, or sign up for a Hillsdale alumni email account. You will also need to notify all contacts, mailing lists, and online accounts of your email address change.
Unless other arrangements are made with Information Technology Services, email accounts of employees who leave on good terms will be removed within two weeks of resignation, and accounts of employees terminated involuntarily shall be removed within one week after termination of employment.
ITS shall receive notification of the former employee's ending date from the Office of Personnel Services. Former employees will be reminded of their email removal date via an email from the Systems Administrator.
Email accounts, in all situations other than retirement, shall be removed three months after the employment ending date. Former faculty will be reminded of their email removal date via an email from the Systems Administrator. Extensions for varying circumstances may be granted with permission from David M. Zenz, Executive Director of ITS.
In cases of retirement, email accounts shall be removed one month after retirement. Retired faculty and staff may be granted special privileges: If the past employee wishes to continue using their Hillsdale College email account, they may do so for one year past employment. They must contact ITS and request the yearlong extension. If ITS is not contacted, the email account will be removed after one month.
