Each year the department employs about 35 students as Lab Assistants to oversee the labs and provide assistance to students needing help with various program applications such as Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Photoshop, etc.
The Lab Assistant position is one of the most sought-after jobs on campus. See the Lab Assistant Job Description (PDF) for more information on the requirements for becoming a Lab Assistant. Interested students should send the Lab Assistant job application and Available Hours Sheet to Tina Waggener (x.2626) and include any questions about the position.
Each year ITS employs several students who really enjoy working with technology. These students work with the Technical Support Specialists and other staff in assisting all clients (students, faculty, and staff) with walk-in, phone call, and email requests. Students in this position must be self-motivated, take initiative and able to work independently.
Student Technicians will be offered 6 to 12 hours per week of work. Preference will be given to candidates whose schedules allow them to work multiple hour shifts. Shifts are generally 3 to 7 hours in length. If you can only work “an hour here and an hour there,” this job is not for you. Hours must be between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Applicants must have ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Students able to work during part of summer and winter breaks are preferred. Student Technicians may work up to 30-35 hours per during break periods.
Print, complete and submit the Student Technician job application to ITS Administrative Offices.
