The Hillsdale College Residential Network provides students with a 10/100 Megabit ethernet connection and wireless b/g connectivity to the Internet. ResNet does not require an Internet service provider, and it does not involve telephone lines or modems. Students must supply their own computer and any other hardware such as ethernet adapters and cables. This site is designed to help you get your computer on the network in a matter of minutes.

In an effort to increase the security and protection of all the computers and equipment on our campus network, Information Technology Services requires registration of all computers connecting to the Hillsdale College network. ITS does not actively monitor student computing activity, however ITS will identify and handle any reported illegal or otherwise unethical acts of computer use on our domain in accordance with the Acceptable Use Policy.

Registering a Computer on ResNet

Students can register their computers on the residential network from the convenience of their rooms.  All machines connecting to ResNet will be scanned for viruses/malware and must have up to date anti-virus protection, anti-spyware protection, and Windows Updates.  Detailed ResNet registration instructions may be found here.  Students with up to date protection may quickly register their machine by following these steps:

1. Plug the computer into the ethernet network port in your room.
2. Open a web browser window.
3. Your browser will be automatically redirected to the registration page.
4. Follow the instructions displayed in the browser window to complete the registration process.

In the event that the registration page does not appear upon opening the web browser, or if you are unable to complete the registration process for any other reason, please contact the Help desk.

Registering a Game Console on ResNet

Game consoles must also be registered on ResNet in order to access online resources.  Please follow the instructions on the ResNet game console registration page to register your console.
