You have now setup your student e-mail account on your computer. You may now check your e-mail by simply double clicking on the Outlook Express icon. You will now see a new mailbox (mail.hillsdale.edu) in your folder list on the left. This is your student e-mail account. Please note, when you delete an item in Outlook Express it places a strike through the message, but does not delete it until you hit the purge button. Your email box may take up to 50 mb of space. See Managing Mailbox Size for more details.

Note that for those living off campus it is not possible to SEND (i.e. use the college's SMTP server) from off campus. You MAY be able to send using your ISP's SMTP server (i.e. mail.comast.com).
You will need to contact your ISP for details about that server's name and how to authenticate.
