Recent Salvatori Prize winner

The Henry Salvatori Prize for “Excellence in Teaching” has three major objectives:

1.  To address constructively the perilous state of American education:

By recognizing and promoting outstanding classroom teachers, Hillsdale College will focus attention on the core ingredient of effective education reform.  It is intended that educators and citizens alike will come to regard the Salvatori Prize as a measure of teaching excellence and its recipients as inspiring examples.

2.  To support schools with funds for needed books, equipment and/or instructional materials:

The $25,000 check will be made payable to the winning teacher’s tax-exempt 501(c)3 institution.  It cannot be applied to salaries, stipends or school endowments.

3.  To promote Hillsdale College and Hillsdale Academy as model teaching institutions:

By honoring classroom teachers who draw upon the Hillsdale Academy Reference Guide, the Salvatori Prize encourages teachers nationwide to benefit from Hillsdale Academy’s proven and successful instructional methods and curricula.
