Augustine Siegel - Augustine Siegel is a member of the 5th grade class. His father, Dr. Harold Siegel, teaches ancient history at Hillsdale College. His sister, Gretchen, is a student in the Academy third grade. Augustine’s 10 years have been filled with study, travel and soccer. His father’s studies in Germany allowed Augustine the opportunity to become acquainted with soccer (or football!). His excellent power of memorization not only makes Augustine a very fine student, but an expert in his favorite soccer stars and teams. His energy and excellent attitude toward study make Augustine a very fine student.
Sabeek Pradhan - Sabeek is in the 10th grade and hails from Coldwater, Michigan, where his mother and father work as physicians. Sabeek’s parents are from Nepal and studied in England before coming to the United States with their newborn son. Sabeek has many interests, including the study of piano. Four years ago he won a competition for youth composers sponsored by the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra. His piece, “A Patriot’s Call,” was performed by the orchestra with Sabeek and his 5th and 6th grade classmates in attendance. Beyond his musical interests, Sabeek has excelled in mathematics as well as nearly every other subject.
Heather Lantis - Heather is in the 11th grade and was born and raised in Hillsdale, Michigan. Indeed, her family has strong roots in southern Michigan and in Hillsdale County itself. Heather entered the Academy in her kindergarten year and has, throughout that time, shown a strong interest in her studies. Consistently a good student, Heather has performed well in every area, particularly in history. During her freshman year she studied Ancient history with headmaster Dr. Kenneth Calvert. In addition to her studies, Heather is also an avid athlete, adding much energy and spirit to every team she joins. Heather’s twin sisters, Kelsey and Kendra, also attend the Academy as members of the 7th grade class.
Joseph Craig- Joe is a senior at Hillsdale Academy. His family has strong roots in Hillsdale. His father, Dr. Mickey Craig is a professor at Hillsdale College. Joe is a bright young man who performs well in his studies, particularly in Latin and in Math. As a senior, Joe will tackle one of the most difficult years at Hillsdale Academy. His courses in Advance Biology, Latin 4 Advanced, Modern Literature and History and Calculus are among the most challenging at Hillsdale Academy. Remarkably, Joe has maintained an 3.7 gpa throughout it all. Joe's brother, Michael, is in the 4th grade at Hillsdale Academy; his younger sister, Christina, will be a freshman this year, and his two older sisters, Monica and Patsy, are graduates of Hillsdale Academy.
Grace Leutheuser, a senior, began her career at Hillsdale Academy in the kindergarten class of 1997. Her career at the school is one of good, hard work and an excellent attitude toward her teachers and peers. Grace is well-known for her great sense of humor as well as her sharp mind. Her senior year will include the completion of a rigorous course of study in Advanced Biology, Advanced Latin 4, Civics and Economics, and Calculus. She is an All-State contributor to both the girls’ volleyball and track and field teams. Grace's two older sisters, Anna and Clara are currently attending Hillsdale College.
