    • A:   The community participates in many college activities. Hillsdale College has a College/Community Orchestra in which many community members participate. Furthermore, sporting events, lectures and theater performances are open to the public. The College, in turn, does a lot for the community. College students log on average 22,500 hours of volunteer service, and 52 percent of the campus is involved in volunteering in the community. Students tutor in local schools, mentor individual students in the community, volunteer at the local animal shelter, volunteer in their local churches, adopt-a-grandparent or volunteer at the local hospital, among many other volunteer opportunities.
