Seven incoming freshmen to Hillsdale College athletics named Scholar-Athletes by the Detroit Free Press
Three women's basketball players featured on list
June 8, 2008 - A total of seven incoming freshmen in five different sports received one final high school honor this week.

The Detroit Free Press came out with its Scholar-Athlete list, and seven athletes coming to Hillsdale College starting in 2008-09 made the list. Each high school in the state received one athlete from its school to receive this award.

The Charger women's basketball team leads the way with three Scholar-Athlete award winners: Chelsea Harrison (Lowell), Dana Cook (Addison) and Katie Bildner (Grand Rapids West Catholic).

Other winners included baseball player Will Tidwell (Plymouth Canton), football player Anthony Mifsud (Dearborn), Jennifer Shaffer (Camden-Frontier) in women's track and Timothy Jagielski II (Waldron) in men's track.

Hillsdale College's women's basketball team carried an overall grade point average of well above 3.0 for the 2007-08 season, and finished 23-5 overall.

Mifsud's father Dave Mifsud played football at Hillsdale in the 1980s and was a key player on the Chargers' 1985 NAIA national championship team. Anthony Mifsud was a Dream Team quarterback at Dearborn High School. Jagielski is a Hillsdale County prospect out of Waldron High School, and was a highly decorated distance track and cross country runner for the Spartans.
