Men's basketball player Tony Gugino named honorable mention pre-season All-American by Street & Smith's
October 11, 2008 - Hillsdale College senior men's basketball player Tony Gugino has already received an honor for a season that has yet to begin.

Gugino, a 6-foot-9 center from Holland, Mich., has been named a news story imageDivision II Preseason All-American by Street & Smith's Magazine, one of the most respected college basketball publications in the country. Gugino is one of 30 players around the country to be named to the honorable mention All-American list.

In 2007-08, Gugino led the GLIAC in scoring with a 19.7 points per game average. He was also one of the conference leaders in field goal percentage, rebounds and blocked shots. He was named Second-Team All-GLIAC and Second-Team All-Region after turning in his finest season in his career. Gugino will lead the Charger men's basketball team into the 2008-09 season starting with a home exhibition game on Sunday, Nov. 2 against Athletes in Action. The team's first regular season game is Wednesday, Nov. 19 at home against Lewis University.
