October 25, 2008 - Freshman Tim Jagielski doesn't have a long commute from his hometown of Waldron, Mich., to the campus of Hillsdale College. It turns out he didn't have a long time to wait to make an impact on the GLIAC Cross Country Championships.
Jagielski finished second overall at Saturday's conference championships, held on the campus of Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. His time of 25:03 was just three seconds away from first place, and good enough to earn him Freshman of the Year honors as well as being named First-Team All-Conference.
The Charger men took fourth place overall at the GLIAC meet with 95 points. Timothy Howse was the second-place runner on the team and 16th overall with a time of 25:28. Teammate Britton Deuel wasn't far behind, taking 18th with a time of 25:34.
Hillsdale's women's cross country team took seventh place at the conference meet with 197 team points. Erin Cvengros was the top Charger runner with a time of 23:12. Freshman Amanda Putt was next with a time of 23:23.
