Senior Stephanie Booms named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week
October 27, 2008 - Hillsdale College senior setter Stephanie Booms was named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week Monday afternoon. The award was announced by the conference office. news story image

Booms led the Chargers to two road wins over the weekend, and engineered the offense effectively. She totaled 85 assists in the two matches, won by the Chargers 3-1 over Ashland and 3-0 over Tiffin. She also had four service aces against the Dragons Saturday, bringing her career total to 162, which is second on Hillsdale's career list.

Booms is also Hillsdale's all-time leader in career assists, now with 4,503 in her three-plus seasons with the program. This is the second GLIAC South Player of the Week award she's won in the past two seasons.

A two-time First-Team All-GLIAC player, Booms has also earned All-Region and Academic All-GLIAC accolades during her remarkable career. Hillsdale College has racked up a 92-30 record during Booms' career.

As a senior at Marysville High School in 2004-05, Booms was named Miss Volleyball in the state of Michigan. She is a biology major and plans to attend medical school after graduation.
