November 25, 2008 - In helping the Hillsdale College men's basketball team to a 2-0 start, senior forward Tony Gugino was named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week Tuesday afternoon. The award was announced by the conference office.

Gugino averaged 17 points and eight rebounds per game in leading the Chargers to wins over GLVC foes Lewis (68-65) and the University of Indianapolis (75-55) last week. Gugino scored a team-high 20 points in the team's win over the Greyhounds.

Gugino was the GLIAC's leading scorer last season and was named Second-Team All-South Division. He earned player of the week accolades three times in 2007-08.
