Katie Cezat named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week for second time this season
December 1, 2008 - For the second time in three weeks, Hillsdale College senior Katie Cezat has been named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week. The award was announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Cezat, who won the award six times overall last season and five times in a row, is the first basketball player to win the award twice this season. She didn't win it last week because the Chargers didn't play.
Cezat scored 58 points and hauled in 33 rebounds in Hillsdale's wins over Southern Indiana and the University of Indianapolis last weekend. She scored 29 points in each game, and led the 15th-ranked Chargers to wins by 15 and 14 points.
Cezat currently leads the GLIAC in both scoring average (28.0) and rebounding average (15.0). Hillsdale is off to a 4-0 start to the season, winning every game by 14 points or more.
Thursday night, the Chargers open the 2008-09 GLIAC schedule by hosting No. 22 Lake Superior State University at 6 p.m.
