Player of the Week sweep: Katie Cezat and Keith MacKenzie named GLIAC South Division Players of the Week
December 15, 2008 - The Hillsdale College men's and women's basketball teams each won games it can feel good about Saturday afternoon. Monday afternoon, players from each team netted conference player of the week honors.
Senior guard Keith MacKenzie (men's) and senior forward Katie Cezat (women's) were each named GLIAC South Division Players of the Week, as announced by the conference office. The honor is the first in MacKenzie's career, while this marks the third time in five weeks, and ninth time overall, that Cezat has won the honor.

MacKenzie made the game-winning layup with a half-second remaining in Hillsdale's 79-77 win over Ferris State Saturday afternoon. His basket capped a dramatic road win for Hillsdale, who is one of two teams in the GLIAC with an undefeated conference record. MacKenzie finished with 17 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals in the win. He is currently third in the GLIAC in assists per game.
MacKenzie played his high school basketball at Warren DeLaSalle. The Chargers will host No. 1-ranked University of Findlay at 8 p.m. Thursday.
Cezat had a game for the ages Saturday in the Chargers' 76-61

win. She scored her 1,000th career point early in the second half, but that was just one milestone she set in a truly remarkable performance. She finished with 36 points, 20 rebounds and a GLIAC-record 13 blocked shots. It was her fourth 20-rebound game of her career, and her 36 points were a season-high. Her 13 blocked shots are the fourth-most in NCAA history in a single game, and represent the most blocked shots by a Division II player in this decade.
Cezat currently leads the GLIAC in scoring average, rebounding average and blocked shots. Her 32 blocks this season (in eight games) are five shy of the single-season school record she set in 2007-08.
Cezat played her prep basketball at Plymouth Canton. The Charger women's basketball team is currently 8-0 and ranked No. 7 in the latest ESPN/USA Today Division II Women's Basketball Top 25 poll.
