Cezat shatters another record in women's basketball team's 75-61 win against Tiffin
January 24, 2009 - Apparently, Katie Cezat has tired of breaking records set by other people, so now she is breaking her own records.
Cezat (pictured) broke her own single-game rebounding record, set nearly one year ago to the day, in helping to lead the Hillsdale College women's basketball team to a 75-61 victory on the road over

Tiffin University Saturday afternoon. The Chargers, ranked seventh in the nation, are now 15-2 overall and 10-2 in the GLIAC.
Cezat had an absolutely dominating ballgame, finishing with 35 points and 26 rebounds, to go along with four assists and one block, in one of her finest performances of her career. She previously set the single-game rebounds record on Jan. 26, 2008 in a home win over Gannon University.
Cezat was absolutely on fire to start the game, as the Dragons had no answer for her pull-up jump shot. She was 10-for-11 from the field in a first half that saw her compile 24 points and 13 rebounds - numbers that for most players, would signify a terrific game. But Cezat did that in just 20 minutes.
The Chargers needed that kind of start, because Tiffin opened up the game shooting the ball extremely well and going toe-to-toe with Hillsdale through much of the first half. The Dragons hit their first three 3-point field goals, and led by as many as four points in the first half.
But 3-point shots by (in order), Brooke Knight, Katie Eckinger and Janay Miller helped the Chargers open up a little breathing room late in the first half. Hillsdale went into the locker room with a 42-33 lead.
A 3-point bomb by freshman Chelsea Harrison gave the Chargers a 13-point lead six minutes into the second half. But Tiffin never went away, keeping the game close with an active defense and timely shooting from the perimeter.
The Dragons closed the score to 65-61 with 2:48 left in the ballgame. But then, Hillsdale's defense took over, shutting out the home team for the rest of the game while making the clutch shots the team has been making throughout this season.
Eckinger drained a huge 3-pointer right after Tiffin's last field goal to extend the Hillsdale lead to 68-61. Harrison then hit four straight free throws, followed by a free throw from Knight and another jumper from Eckinger to close out the win for Hillsdale.
Eckinger scored 13 points, and seemed to make her shots at the most critical times for Hillsdale, a common element in the team's wins this season, particularly on the road. She also had four rebounds and four assists for the Chargers.
Knight had eight points, six rebounds and five assists for Hillsdale. The Chargers outrebounded the Dragons 45-27 in the game, and shot 18-for-21 from the free throw line as a team.
Cezat, the NCAA Division II leader in both rebounds and blocked shots, now has six 30-point games and four 20-rebound games this season. This week, she was also featured in the "Faces inthe Crowd" section of Sports Illustrated magazine.
Hillsdale is back home Thursday night, hosting Saginaw Valley State University starting at 6 p.m.
