Three Charger football players earn All-American status from D2football.com
Veldheer, Korte, Berube honored
January 27, 2009 - Three Hillsdale College football players made various All-American teams, released by D2football.com, the premier website following Division II football in the country.

Junior offensive lineman Jared Veldheer was picked Second-Team All-American by the site, while junior defensive lineman Drew Berube and senior linebacker Tom Korte earned honorable mention honors.

Veldheer, a three-year starter for Hillsdale, has been a solid presence at left tackle throughout his career. In the past two seasons, Hillsdale has had two of its best offensive seasons in its history, with Veldheer's run and pass blocking a key part of those offenses. He was named First-Team All-GLIAC in 2008, and was tabbed Second-Team All-Region as well.

Berube had a breakout season for the Chargers from his defensive end position. Also a First-Team All-GLIAC selection, Berube led the GLIAC with 19.5 tackles-for-loss and had 13 sacks on the season. He was named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 3, and also earned All-Region honors.

Korte goes down as one of the finest linebackers to ever wear the Charger blue. He was named the team's best linebacker three times, tying a record set by his head coach, Keith Otterbein. Korte was named team MVP in 2006 and 2008, and was named First-Team All-GLIAC three times. He was also a three-time Academic All-GLIAC selection, and was an All-Region linebacker twice.
