Nothing lucky about this number seven: Katie Cezat named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week
Senior has won award seven out of 11 weeks this season
February 2, 2009 - The number seven is often associated with luck. There was nothing lucky about Katie Cezat's seventh GLIAC South Player of the Week honor - it was all skill.

The player of the week award was announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Cezat has now won the award seven times out of a possible 11 weeks during the 2008-09 season. She has also exceeded last year's player of the week total, which was six.

Cezat and the No. 7-ranked Chargers completed another perfect weekend in conference play, defeating Saginaw Valley State 98-48 Thursday, and Lake Superior State 61-49 on the road, Saturday afternoon.

Cezat averaged 29.5 points and 17.5 rebounds per game in the two contests, exceeding her already amazing averages for the season. In Thursday's win over the Cardinals, Cezat was 13-for-16 from the field, shooting a career-high 81.2 percent from the floor, en route to picking up 32 points and 12 rebounds in Hillsdale's most lopsided win of the season.

Saturday in the Upper Peninsula, Cezat led Hillsdale to a rare road win over the Lakers with 27 points and 23 rebounds. She set a school record by going 12-for-12 from the free throw line, the most-ever makes without a miss in a single game. It was Cezat's fourth 20-rebound game of the season.

Hillsdale is off to its best-ever 19-game start with a 17-2 record. Cezat leads all of NCAA Division II in rebounding average and total blocked shots, and ranks second in scoring average. She has won the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week award a total of 13 times since the beginning of last season.
