February 14, 2009 - The Hillsdale College men's basketball team was unable to win its fourth straight game Saturday, losing 71-61 to Northwood University at Jesse Philips Arena.
The Chargers are now 12-10 overall and 10-8 in the GLIAC. Two of those losses came to the Timberwolves, who are now 12-11 overall and 8-10 in the conference.
Northwood outscored Hillsdale 48-32 in the second half, shooting a blistering 67 percent from the field in the game's final 20

minutes. Hillsdale struggled from the floor in the second half, shooting 9-for-27 as a team.
The Timberwolves used a 13-0 second-half run that lasted almost five minutes to wrest control of the game from the Chargers. Hillsdale led 48-44 after a Chris Skaggs layup at the 8:22 mark. The Chargers didn't make another basket until Tony Gugino's shot at the 3:27 mark.
Senior guard Keith MacKenzie had a good shooting game, leading all players with 24 points. He made six 3-point field goals, and had five rebounds and three assists. Senior Tony Gugino had 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots. They were the only Chargers in double figures.
Hillsdale travels to the Upper Peninsula next week, taking on Northern Michigan Thursday and Michigan Tech Saturday.
