A fine nine: Katie Cezat named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week for ninth time
She has 15 such honors in her career
February 16, 2009 - For the fourth consecutive time, and ninth overall, Charger senior Katie Cezat was named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week. The award was announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

It was another record-breaking week for Cezat and the Chargers, who extended their winning streak to nine games with wins over Wayne State and Northwood last week. Cezat set the GLIAC single-season field goals made record in the team's 86-56 win over the Warriors Thursday night. Despite playing a season-low 24 minutes Thursday, Cezat piled up 36 points and 19 rebounds on WSU.

In Saturday's thrilling overtime win over the Timberwolves Saturday, Cezat had 28 points and a school-record 28 rebounds. It was the third time in a little more than a year that Cezat has set the school's single-game rebounding record. Her 28 boards also tied a GLIAC single-game record, originally set back in 1978.

For the season, Cezat is averaging 28.2 points and 17.1 rebounds per game, well ahead of anyone else in the GLIAC. She leads the nation with 80 blocked shots, and has already clinched the GLIAC single-season record for rebounding average, even with four games left to go. She is averaging 18.1 rebounds per game in GLIAC games, and even if she gets zero total rebounds in the season's last four games, she would finish with a rebounding average of 14.7 in GLIAC games. The current record is 14.4.
