Hang 10: Katie Cezat named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week for 10th time this season
February 23, 2009 - For an unprecedented 10th time, Hillsdale College senior Katie Cezat has been named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week. The award was announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Cezat helped the Chargers clinch their second straight GLIAC South Division championship over the weekend with another huge set of games on the road. Cezat averaged 31 points and 19.5 rebounds per game as Hillsdale went 1-1 in the Upper Peninsula last week.

In Saturday's thrilling 98-91 win over Michigan Tech, Cezat had 30 points and 18 rebounds, including 21 points in the second half. She added 32 points and 21 rebounds in Thursday's one-point loss at Northern Michigan.

Cezat now has 22 double-doubles this season, the second-most in NCAA Division II history. The record is 26 for one season. She also still leads the nation in blocked shots average (3.5) and rebounding average (17.3). She has already claimed GLIAC records for both scoring average and rebounding average in a season with two games left to play.

Hillsdale is 22-3 on the season, and is one win away from tying the school record for victories in a season, a record set in 2002-03 and 2007-08. The Chargers are tied for first overall in the GLIAC with a 17-3 conference mark.
