Men's basketball team moves into third place overall in the GLIAC with 96-54 win over Tiffin
February 26, 2009 - The third win in a row for the Hillsdale College men's basketball team could end up being one of its most significant of the season.
The Chargers had little trouble in defeating Tiffin University, 96-54 Thursday night at Jesse Phillips Arena. Hillsdale is now 15-10 on the season and 13-8 in the GLIAC. That conference record now puts the team in third place overall, after Wayne State's come-from-behind win over Grand Valley State in Detroit Thursday night.
Both Hillsdale and Grand Valley State are 13-8 in conference play, but the Chargers win the third-place tiebreaker with the Lakers thanks to Hillsdale's better head-to-head record against North Division leader Lake Superior State (1-1 vs. 0-2). A win over Ashland Saturday would clinch the GLIAC's No. 3 overall

seed heading into next week's conference tournament.
In addition, the Chargers have officially clinched hosting a GLIAC Tournament game Tuesdya, March 3, regardless of the result of their game vs. the Eagles Saturday. The 13th conference win of the season clinched at least fourth place overall in the GLIAC for Hillsdale, thus ensuring a home game in the conference tournament's first round.
