Junior Aaron Falk, just three weeks after earning All-American status in the weight throw for the indoor season, has guaranteed himself a chance to compete for the same honor during the outdoor season. Falk launched the hammer 62.24m (204-02) earning himself an automatic bid to the National Championship meet which will be held in San Angelo, Texas May 21st thru the 23rd.
Falk’s throw is not only three meters better than the automatic mark, but also breaks his own school record set during last season. Falk took second place and could have the top throw in the country when the new performance lists are posted.
The Chargers finished with two third place finishes in the sprint events. Freshman Skylar Dooley finished the 100m dash in 10.98 seconds while junior Jared Krout clocked in at 48.67 seconds in the 400m dash. Krout also took seventh place in the long jump with a mark of 6.73m (22-01).
Freshman Tim Jagielski finished with a third and fifth place finish on Saturday. Jagielski ran a time of 3:57.30 in the 1,500m run and finished the 5,000m run in 14:56.51.
Senior Andrew Dodson and junior Kurt Weil both took fifth place in their respective events. Dodson jumped 2.00m (6-06 ¾) in the high jump while Weil threw the shot put 44.83m (147-01).
The Chargers next compete at the Miami Team Challenge April 10th-11th in Oxford, Ohio.
