Volleyball player Ashlee Crowder named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week
Sept. 1, 2009 - Sophomore outside hitter Ashlee Crowder received the honor of being named the first GLIAC South Division Player of the Week of the 2009 season Tuesday news story image afternoon. The award was announced by the conference office.

Crowder played a big part in leading the Hillsdale College volleyball team to a 4-0 record at the Colorado Springs Tournament over the weekend. She averaged more than 14 kills per match in leading the Chargers to the tournament championship.

In her first match of the season, against host school Colorado-Colorado Springs, she racked up 26 kills, the 11th most in a single match in school history. She followed that up with an 18-kill performance vs. Wayne State (Neb.) and added 13 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Texas Women's College.

Against UCCS, Crowder also set a new career-high in digs with 16. Crowder was named the GLIAC Freshman of the Year in 2008, setting a school freshman record with 333 kills on the season. She played her high school volleyball at Jenison, where she was part of a Class A state champion.

Crowder was named the South Division Player of the Week once last season.
