Charger volleyball team enters AVCA Top 25 poll
Hillsdale ranked 25th in latest poll
Sept. 21, 2009 - For the first time in a year, the Hillsdale College volleyball team is ranked among the top 25 in the nation.

The Chargers are ranked 25th in the latest AVCA Division II Top 25 poll, released Monday afternoon. The last time Hillsdale was nationally ranked was Sept. 15, 2008, when the team dropped from 10-2 to 10-4 after losing road matches to Northwood and Wayne State.

This year, Hillsdale is off to a blazing 12-1 start, the second-best 13-game mark in the program's history. Only the 2006 team, which went 28-0 on its way to a 29-2 overall record, had a better start.

Eight of Hillsdale's 12 wins this season have come in 3-0 sweeps, including the past four matches in a row. The Chargers are 5-0 in GLIAC play, recording wins over all of its rivals in the South Division through the first two weeks of the conference schedule.

Hillsdale is the only GLIAC team appearing in this week's top 25 poll. Indianapolis and Lewis, two teams in the Midwest Region (same as Hillsdale), are ranked 12th and 13th, respectively.
