Charger volleyball team polishes off perfect weekend with sweep of LSSU
Hillsdale holds three-game lead in South Division
October 10, 2009 - Homecoming weekend of 2009 will hold great memories for both the Hillsdale College football and volleyball teams.

On the same day the Charger football team beat No. 1 Grand Valley State, the volleyball team did its part, defeating Lake Superior State 3-0 in Sault Ste. Marie.

The Chargers improved their record to 16-3 overall and 9-2 in the GLIAC. The team holds a three-game lead in the South Division over Wayne State. Hillsdale will participate in the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge next weekend, and goes into the two-day tournament as the GLIAC's number-one seed.

The Chargers won the sets vs. the Lakers by scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-20. It was Hillsdale's 10th 3-0 win in 16 overall victories this season.

Hillsdale hit .363 as a team, one of its best hitting percentages in a match all season. In the third set, the Chargers finished off the Lakers with 16 kills and four errors.

Sophomore Ashlee Crowder continued her streak of double-digit kill matches with a team-high 12. She hit .345 for the match and had five digs and two block assists for the match.

Sophomore Clara Leutheuser had seven kills and six total blocks, including two solos. Senior Emily Bennett had her best match inr ecent weeks, with eight kills, no errors and a .667 attack percentage.

Sophomore Morgan Podkul led the team with nine digs, and sophomore Apryl Schmucker had 27 assists, five digs and five kills.
