October 13, 2009 - The two women's fall season teams at Hillsdale College are both ranked in their respective top 25 polls this week.
The Charger volleyball team reentered the AVCA Division II Top 25 poll this week, at No. 23. This is the second appearance in the top 25 poll this season for the volleyball team.
The women's cross country team moved up a spot to No. 16 in this week's USTFCCCA Division II Top 25 poll. The ladies have been ranked throughout the season and has steadily moved up the polls each of the past four weeks.
The volleyball team sits in first place in the GLIAC South Division with a 16-3 overall record and 9-2 in conference play. The team was ranked 25th in the nation after its 12-1 start, then dropped out of the poll after one loss, at Northern Michigan Sept. 26.
Despite Hillsdale's outstanding record, it is ranked behind several teams with worse won-loss records. Ranked 22nd this week is Eckerd (Fla.), who is 10-7. Above Eckerd is Metro State (Col.), who is 13-6. Truman University, in Kansas, who is 20th this week, has an overall record of 16-8.
The women's cross country team just came off one of its best performances of the season, finishing in third place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Meet in Grand Rapids on Oct. 9.
