Charger men's basketball team loses by eight points to Division I University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
November 21, 2009 - The rough road to start the 2009-10 season continued for the Hillsdale College men's basketball team on Saturday.
After playing two top-25 teams in its first two games, Hillsdale took on Division I University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on the road Saturday. The Chargers rallied in the second half, but fell short in a 62-54 decision in Milwaukee.
Sophomore Brent Eaton, who played Division I basketball in the state of Wisconsin last year, nailed six 3-point baskets on his way to a team-high 19 points in the game.
Hillsdale trailed 33-19 at halftime, and shot just 29 percent as a team in the opening 20 minutes. But Hillsdale closed the gap in the second half, trailing by just one point with 15 minutes left in the game after a layup by sophomore Matt Clarke. But the Chargers would get no closer after that.
Sophomore guard Tyler Gerber had a career-high 10 assists for the Chargers. Nick Washburn, Joe Caruson and Tyler Brand each had six points for Hillsdale.
