Knights use layup with 3 seconds left to edge Chargers 79-77
Women's basketball team falls to 0-3 on the season
November 28, 2009 - A layup by Bellarmine's Kylie Brady with three seconds left in Saturday's women's basketball game lifted the host Knights to a dramatic 79-77 win over Hillsdale College in Louisville, Ky. The Chargers are now 0-3 on the season, and will wrap up this Thanksgiving weekend trip to Kentucky with a game against Southern Indiana Sunday afternoon.

A 3-point shot by sophomore guard Chelsea Harrison, who made her season debut after missing the first two games due to injury, tied the game 77-77 with 1:04 left in Saturday's game. Each team had chances for the go-ahead basket within the game's final minute, but neither could cash in until Brady's bucket with three seconds left. A 3-point attempt by freshman guard Lea Jones missed as time expired.

Bellarmine led the game by as many as 17 points (24-7) in the first half. But the Chargers clawed their way back into the game, after trailing by six at halftime. Hillsdale took its first lead of the game with a layup by freshman guard Emily Anderson with 8:10 left in the second half. The basket capped a 15-5 run by the Chargers that evened out the game in the second half. Anderson and sophomore Liz Brannick each scored four points for Hillsdale during that 15-5 spurt.

Senior guard Janay Miller led Hillsdale in scoring with 17 points. Senior guard Brooke Knight had her best statistical game of the season, logging 39 minutes on the court to go along with 11 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and three steals.

Sophomore Katie Bildner shared the team's rebound category with nine, along with junior forward Laura Barczak. Harrison came off the bench to hit three 3-point field goals as part of a 13-point game, while Barczak scored a career-high 16 points for Hillsdale.
