Women's basketball team loses fourth straight, 91-83 vs. USI
Harrison makes six 3-pointers in loss
November 29, 2009 - Despite six 3-point field goals from sophomore guard Chelsea Harrison, the Hillsdsale College women's basketball team lost its fourth game in a row Sunday afternoon.

The Chargers lost a 91-83 decision to the University of Southern Indiana in a game played at Bellarmine University, located in news story image Louisville, Ky. Hillsdale, 0-4 on the season, will open GLIAC play on Thursday on the road vs. Lake Superior State University.

Hillsdale took the lead to open the game, and led by as many as six points at one stage. But USI quickly turned that deficit into a lead, and led by 11 at halftime, 41-30.

Both offenses were clicking in a high-scoring second half. Although Hillsdale outscored USI 53-50 in the final 20 minutes, it wouldn't be enough to secure its first win of the season.

Harrison, coming off the bench for the second game in a row, went 6-for-8 from 3-point territory, tying her career-high for 3-pointers made in a game and falling one shot shy of tying the school record for threes made in a single game. She has 10 3-point field goals in her two games played this season.

Senior guard Brooke Knight and junior forward Laura Barczak were each named to the All-Tournament Team.

Freshman guard Emily Anderson scored six points in a 7-0 Hillsdale run that made it a 72-65 game with 6:03 left in the second half. But Southern Indiana responded with an 8-0 run, that lasted nearly three minutes, to up its lead to 15 with around 3:30 left in the contest.

Southern Indiana had a 29-12 scoring advantage in free throws in the game, and shot 19 more free throws than the Chargers.

Senior Janay Miller had 14 points and four rebounds before fouling out for Hillsdale. Junior Laura Barczak and sophomore Katie Bildner each scored 11 points for the Chargers.
