Findlay's women end losing streak vs. Chargers, 77-63
December 17, 2009 - It had been nearly six years since the Hillsdale College women's basketball team lost to the University of Findlay. That streak ended Thursday night.
Thanks to timely shooting and aggressive defense, the Oilers defeated the Chargers 77-63 Thursday night at Hillsdale's Jesse Philips Arena. Hillsdale fell to 3-5 overall and 3-1 in the GLIAC with the loss.
The Chargers opened the game playing well, taking a five point

lead within a few minutes. But then the team fell into a deep dry spell shooting the basketball, and found itself down 32-23 at halftime.
In the second half, Hillsdale did a better job, particularly on the boards, and created more chances at the basket. The nine-point halftime deficit turned into a 50-49 Chargers lead, after a sweet fast break layup by sophomore Katie Bildner.
But Findlay responded by going on a 9-0 run, retaking an eight-point lead with 7:25 left in the second half. The Oilers then made all eight of their free throws down the stretch, and limited Hillsdale to one shot in many possessions to close out the win.
Freshman guard Emily Anderson played her finest game of the season so far, leading the team with 19 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the floor. Anderson was quick with the ball, attacking every opening she saw in the defense.
Senior Janay Miller had 14 points, while sophomore Chelsea Harrison had 12.
Sophomore Amanda Geelhoed made her Charger basketball debut, and played nine minutes, grabbing three rebounds. A three-year veteran of the volleyball team, Geelhoed played strong interior defense and showed little rust after not playing a competitive basketball game since her senior season at Lowell High School.
