Eaton's record-setting 3-point shooting sends Chargers soaring past NMU
January 16, 2010 - Hillsdale College sophomore Brent Eaton set a school record for 3-point field goal percentage in a game, as the Charger men's basketball team put together one of its finest performances of the season.

Eaton scored a season-high 27 points, going 7-for-8 from 3-point territory, as Hillsdale defeated Northern Michigan University 78-62 Saturday afternoon in Marquette. Hillsdale is now 3-11 overall and 3-7 in the GLIAC, and kicks off a four-game homestand starting Thursday night.

Eaton's .889 percentage in 3-point field goal attempts in a game is a new school record, shattering the old mark of .830. His accurate 3-point bombing was part of a superlative team effort by Hillsdale, who shot 56 percent from beyond the arc as a team, making 14 of 25 shots from downtown. Eaton also had eight rebounds in his best game in a Hillsdale uniform.

Senior Luke Laser matched Eaton's performance with a career-high 27 points of his own. Laster also had four rebounds, four assists and was 4-for-7 in 3-point shots.

Hillsdale outscored Northern Michigan 42-6 in 3-pointers in the game, creating the biggest difference in the contest. The Chargers led by as many as 23 points in the game, their largest lead at any point in any game this season.
