Women's basketball team suffers through frigid night in loss at Ferris State
February 4, 2010 - For the first time in more than four years, the Hillsdale College women's basketball team lost to Ferris State. The Bulldogs topped the Chargers 69-60 Thursday night at FSU's Wink Arena in Big Rapids.

Hillsdale falls to 9-10 overall and 9-6 in the GLIAC with the loss, while also seeing its three-game winning streak come to a halt. Hillsdale will play at Grand Valley State at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The Bulldogs held the Chargers to 32 percent shooting from the field, and outscored Hillsdale 22-6 from the free throw line in the game. Ferris State's last win over Hillsdale came on Jan. 7, 2006.

Ferris State also held a big edge on the boards over the Chargers (49-33), and made a nine-point halftime lead stand up throughout the second half.

Sophomore guard Chelsea Harrison was a bright spot for the Chargers offensively, making six 3-point baskets on her way to a team-high 24 points. Harrison's 63 3-pointers this season are now second on Hillsdale's single-season 3-pointers made list.

Freshman guard Lea Jones set a new career scoring high for the second game in a row, scoring 12 points while draining three 3-pointers. Senior Janay Miller grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds, and freshman Emily Anderson had nine points and five rebounds.
