February 11, 2010 - Playing to a statewide television audience, the Hillsdale College women's basketball team put its best foot forward Thursday night.
The Chargers snapped a two-game losing streak in a 79-66 win on the road over Wayne State University. The win improves Hillsdale to 10-11 overall and 10-7 in the GLIAC. The team returns home Saturday for the first of three straight games on its home court, hosting Northwood University.
Thursday night's game was broadcast live on Comcast TV channel 900, and with the TV lights shining, the Chargers put on a strong display of offensive and defensive basketball while recording their fourth straight win over the Warriors.
Four players scored in double figures for Hillsdale, one of its most balanced offensive efforts of the season. The Chargers outrebounded Wayne State 40-32 in the game, and outscored the hosts 23-7 in points off turnovers.
Sophomore guard Chelsea Harrison led the Chargers with 23 points, making more two-poitn field goals than 3-pointers (five to three).
Senior Janay Miller had her best shooting game from the field this season (6-for-8) while scoring 13 points for Hillsdale. Freshman Emily Anderson added 12 points and a team-best five steals, while junior Laura Barczak had 10 points.
