Playing one of its best games of the season, Hillsdale moved into a first-place tie in the GLIAC South Division with a very impressive 83-66 victory over Northern Michigan University Thursday night. Hillsdale is now over .500 for the first time this season, and are 12-11 overall. The Chargers' 12-7 GLIAC record ties them with Findlay for first place in the South Division.

Hillsdale opened the game moving the ball crisply and playing with an aggressive edge at both ends of the court. The team ran its offensive sets brilliantly throughout the game, making smart decisions with the ball.

The Chargers shot 51 percent from the floor, made five of their eight 3-pointers, and held Northern Michigan to 35 percent shooting for the game. Hillsdale also committed just nine turnovers, while forcing 15 by the Wildcats.

A 15-2 first-half run was capped on a fastbreak layup by sophomore Katie Bildner which turned a 10-8 Charger deficit into a 23-12 advantage.

NMU stayed within striking distance, but the shooting and all-around play of sophomore Chelsea Harrison made a difference in the second half.

Harrison set Hillsdale's single-season 3-pointers made record in this game, swishing two from downtown to give her 72 for the season. The old record of 71 was set by Ann Iciek back in 1995. Harrison has that record beat with at least four games left in this season.

Harrison was 8-for-13 from the field for a game-high 22 points. She also had five rebounds and played outstanding defense on Northern Michigan's Elisia Derusha, who had just four field goal attempts in the game.

Bildner played one of her best games of the season, pouring in 14 points in just 17 minutes on the floor. She also grabbed four rebounds and was 6-for-8 shooting the basketball.

Freshman Emily Anderson contributed 12 points and six rebounds, while fellow freshman Lea Jones had six points and six assists.

Hillsdale will face #3-ranked Michigan Tech at 1 p.m. Saturday, and will honor its seniors in a pre-game ceremony. The game begins at 1 p.m.
