February 18, 2010 - The Hillsdale College men's basketball team outscored Northern Michigan University by 22 points over the final 18 minutes of their contest Thursday night inside Jesse

Philips Arena.
The Chargers emerged victorious for the 10th time in their past 12 games, whipping the Wildcats 81-59. Hillsdale is now 11-12 overall and 11-8 in GLIAC play, and will host Michigan Tech University in the regular season home finale Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
The Chargers played a very good first half, but found themselves tied with the athletic Wildcats, 34-34, with 18:55 left in the second half. From that point, Hillsdale cranked up the intensity on both ends of the floor and outscored NMU 47-25 over those final 18 minutes.
Charger sophomore Brent Eaton set a school record by going 7-for-8 from 3-point land in Hillsdale's win at Northern Michigan last month, and opened Thursday's game just as hot. He made all fiver of his 3-point shots in the first half, and finished with 21 points. His shooting helped Hillsdale counter Northern Michigan's athletic backcourt, which made high-difficulty shots throughout the game's first 22 minutes.
Complementing Eaton's outside shooting perfectly was freshman center Nick Washburn, who put together the finest game of his young career. Washburn played with patience and power, en route to his first 20-10 game of his career. He finished the contest with 21 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots, and was a superb 13-for-14 from the free throw line.
The Chargers didn't bust the game open with a big scoring run, but gradually executed better on both ends of the court as the game wore on. The team shot 27-for-29 from the free throw line, and did a good job at forcing tough shots by the NMU offense, particularly in the second half. The Wildcats were just 2-for-11 from 3-point land in the game's final 20 minutes.
Sophomore Tyler Gerber had 14 points and three steals for the Chargers, and junior Nick Meinert had seven points in 20 minutes off the bench.
