February 20, 2010 - The Hillsdale College men's basketball team had lost two games in a row to Michigan Tech, dating back to last year's GLIAC Tournament matchup. Saturday, it was time for the Chargers to pay the Huskies back.
Hillsdale opened the game with a 28-9 run in the game's first 11 minutes on its way to a 79-55 win over the Huskeis Saturday afternoon at Jesse Philips Arena. The Chargers, now winners of 11 of their past 13, are 12-12 overall and 12-8 in the GLIAC.

Hillsdale will wrap up the regular season next week with a road trip through Ohio, taking on Tiffin Thursday and Ashland Saturday.
The Charger men's team apparently fed off some of the momentum built by the crazed finish to the women's game, which saw Hillsdale end the game on a 24-4 run en route to s 68-65 upset of Michigan Tech.
The men's team did its part, opening the game on fire, making 12 of its first 20 shots, with offensive rebounds on three of those eight misses. During that 28-9 stretch, the Chargers played with the same kind of confidence and intelligence that have been key to the team's 11-2 stretch over the second half of the season.
Hillsdale rolled into halftime with a 44-22 lead, and maintained that lead throughout the second half. The teams combined to shoot 53 free throws and a total of 45 fouls were called in the contest.
Ten players scored three or more points for Hillsdale, led by Luke Laser's 19 points. Laser opened the game playing with a lot of energy and aggressiveness on offense, and the team clearly fed off his terrific play in the first half.
Sophomore guard Tyler Gerber had 10 points and a career-high 10 rebounds, to go along with five assists and three steals. Sophomore Brent Eaton had 12 points, while freshman center Nick Washburn powered his way to eight points, four boards and two blocks. Kyle Jazwiecki and Brad Guinane each had seven points.
