Oilers bring Charger women's basketball season to an end with 66-62 win in first round of GLIAC Tournament
Chargers finish 14-13 on the season
March 2, 2010 - The 2009-10 Hillsdale College women's basketball season came to an end Tuesday night, in the first round of the GLIAC Tournament.

The University of Findlay beat the Chargers for the third time this season, this time by a score of 66-62 at Findlay's Croy Gymnasium Tuesday night. The Chargers conclude the campaign with a 14-13 record.

Tuesday's first-round game was as tightly played as any tournament game between Nos. 4 and 5 seeds would be, with neither team able to get out to a big lead at any point in the news story image contest.

The Chargers got off to a strong start, leading by as many as seven points after a 3-pointer by senior Janay Miller put the team ahead 13-6.

Hillsdale entered halftime with a 29-26 lead, and led once again by as many eight early in the second half before the Oilers made their run.

Findlay outscored Hillsdale 21-11 from the 17:21 mark to the 10:00 mark of the second half, turning a 38-30 deficit into a 51-49 lead for the home team. The teams played as closely as possible, right down to Hillsdale holding a 60-58 lead with 2:05 left in the game.

The Oielrs finished the contest on an 8-2 run, getting a couple of steals, and making their free throws while shutting out the Chargers from the field in that final two minutes.

Sophomore guard Chelsea Harrison, the new school and GLIAC record-holder for 3-pointers made in a season, led the Chargers with 18 points, draining four shots from beyond the arc. Junior forward Laura Barczak finished up this season playing the best basketball of her career, and had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Chargers.

Seniors Janay Miller (pictured) and Brooke Knight, each of them three-year starters for the Chargers, finished with 15 points (for Miller) and seven assists (for Knight), respectively.
